Kansas City mayor’s indifference to dangers of all-gender bathrooms draws firestorm of ridicule

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas has drawn national scorn this week for his view that the city’s airport doesn’t need gender-specific bathrooms – even after up to 66 women were allegedly filmed in gender-neutral stalls that allow in men.

“Mayor Quinton Lucas says the answer is not changing the restrooms” at Kansas City International Airport, KCTV reported.

“I see this first as a criminal issue. There was a person who committed absolutely heinous acts. He’s facing justice now,” Lucas told reporters.

“I will look to see that the prosecution will be thorough. I expect that from prosecutor [Eric] Zahnd, and our law enforcement authorities will continue to investigate that fully.”

KMBC also reported Lucas sees no need for changes in restrooms at KCI.

“No, I don’t expect the city to take a look at restructuring how these things work,” Lucas told the outlet. “In this situation, you had a true criminal who is facing justice now, who violated the law, and frankly, I think that you are seeing that situation addressed. …

“I think when you look at probably the millions of passengers that have flown through KCI, and this one reported incident, I do not see a broad-based public safety concern other than an absolutely heinous act incurred by someone with total disregard for the law and human decency in my opinion.”

“It’s literally the solution”

The mayor’s impassivity in the face of the roiling scandal riled the public, however.

“Quinton Lucas, the Democrat Mayor of Kansas City, says changing the bathrooms ‘is not the solution,’” wrote the national X account Libs of TikTok, “after a man was arrested for secretly recording women in the airport’s ‘all gender’ restrooms.

“Democrats don’t care about women.”

Commenters under the post joined in on the condemnation of the mayor.

“It’s literally the solution,” one wrote. “Saying changing the bathrooms is not the solution is like walking into a pitch-black room, tripping over everything, and declaring that flipping the light switch  on ‘is not the solution.’”

“typical democrat response,” posted another. “prioritize feelings over safety. change the bathrooms problem solved.”

Wrote others:

“When did the Kansas City airport bathroom become a South Park episode? They literally have a genderless bathroom. And some pervert set up a toilet cam. WTF? You can’t make this stuff up. I thought this was an Onion article!”

“Liberal logic thinks taking the gun out of your hand will solve crime, but taking the pervert out of the women’s room won’t 🤦‍♂️”

“Biology isn’t bigotry. Separate bathrooms for men and women exist for a reason. This incident shows exactly why ‘inclusive’ policies can enable predators.”

“The Kansas City zoo is the same. I love that zoo, but I had my 23 year old daughter and two little kids with me trying to use a bathroom with a bunch of men in it.”

“How is it NOT a solution……. divide them up…. make half male and the other half Female……. CHANGE THE SIGNS…… DONE….. not changing it will only lead to MORE instances of law breaking.”

Safety vs. leftist agenda

Kansas City-area women and their supporters were likewise shocked by the mayor’s seeming nonchalance about the dangers inherent in all-gender bathrooms.

“Absolutely,” Charlotte O’Hara, former Johnson County, Kansas commissioner and gubernatorial candidate told The Heartlander. “It’s just like, ‘Well, this is just the way we do business.’ But I mean, that is the radical left’s position – is that they normalize behavior that is absolutely appalling.

“Oh my goodness, I don’t even know where to begin to describe the depth of stupidity, arrogance. He’s so entrenched in the DEI agenda that he’s going to throw the safety of women out of the equation? I am just absolutely appalled that an elected official would make those kinds of statements. And why the gender-neutral restrooms were ever put in at KCI is just bowing at the pagan gods of DEI. Unbelievable.”

“The safety and privacy of women and girls must come first,” says Amy Cawvey, a mother, grandmother, former Lansing, Kansas school board member and Kansas Board of Education candidate. “Policies that ignore biological reality and open the door for misuse put them at risk and those concerns should not be dismissed.

“Leadership has a responsibility to prioritize safety over politics. The mayor of Kansas City must act to uphold these protections. If not, then it’s fair to ask whether he should continue to serve as Mayor.

“Women and girls should not pay the price for pacifying to the left wing ideology.”

“Gender-neutral insanity”

KCTV reports that at KCI “men have 71 toilets to use, women have 82, and there are 64 all-gender toilets. Willett says in Concourse A, 24 toilets are all-gender and only 13 are women-specific.”

On March 9, a woman reported seeing a cell phone under the stall divider while using KCI’s gender-neutral bathroom in Concourse A.

Former KCI restaurant employee Teriosi Ludwig was charged with felony invasion of privacy after an investigation reportedly uncovered bathroom videos of at least 66 victims on his phone, spanning from January to March of this year.

City councilman Nathan Willett was expected to propose that “women-only restroom stalls comprise no less than 50% of all restroom stalls” at KCI during the council’s meeting Thursday afternoon.

They normalize transgender, they normalize men wanting to go into women’s bathrooms,” O’Hara said of the left. “They normalize the mutilation of adolescent children. The list just goes on and on. “

Is removing one criminal the solution, as Lucas suggests?

No,” says O’Hara, “the solution is to go back to a singlesex restroom. If you have a singleoccupant restroom, it’s fine to have men and women that are not going to be sharing the same space at the same time. But this genderneutral insanity just has to stop because it’s really putting women in serious, serious danger.”
