A former Kansas City International Airport restaurant employee was arrested on Friday for allegedly recording over 60 unsuspecting people in one of the airport’s gender-neutral bathrooms.
On March 9, a woman reported seeing a cell phone under the stall divider while using KCI’s gender-neutral bathroom in Concourse A, KCTV 5 reports.
Airport cameras showed KCI Martin City Brewery employee Teriosi Ludwig, 32, scampering away from the bathroom just 35 seconds before the woman exited. He admitted he attempted to record the woman from the next stall but quickly left after she started screaming, according to KCTV.
An investigation uncovered bathroom videos of at least 66 victims on Ludwig’s phone, spanning from January to March of this year. He is charged with felony invasion of privacy, KMBC 9 says.
Kansas City Councilman Nathan Willett posted an outraged response to the incident over the weekend.
“In the name of ‘inclusivity,’ we have allowed policies that ignore basic common sense,” he wrote. “The result is confusion, reduced accountability, and a growing loss of trust among families who just want to know their children are safe.”
Social media users argued over whether Ludwig’s alleged crime is an issue with co-ed bathrooms or something completely unrelated. Some commenters on Willett’s post suggested making floor-to-ceiling stall dividers and doors could alleviate the safety risks in gender-neutral bathrooms.
“Why are you so against freedom?” one commenter asked. “I’m for people having the freedom and opportunity to choose the restroom setup that feels most comfortable to them. This can easily and economically be fixed with the right doors installed.”
However, others argued the stalls in Concourse A’s all-gender bathroom already reach from floor to ceiling, yet somehow Ludwig was still able to record people.
“What would be moronic is if someone comments that the solution to the problem is what’s already in place today,” one person commented. “Literally the doors are full length doors already. IDENTICAL.”
“This IS about gender neutral bathrooms….” another person wrote. “If a man was not allowed in a place where women use the restroom, this would not have happened.”
“It doesn’t matter that the assailant isn’t trans…” a third commented. “The point is that a man is allowed where women are using the restroom. Gender neutral bathrooms put people in danger and this is an obvious reason why.”
“As a woman, I can say, I don’t ever want to share a restroom w a man. You cant speak for me,” another added.
KCI wrote in a statement that Ludwig was fired the same day of the report and the airport’s restroom safety protocols are being reviewed to prevent future incidents.
“The videos were taken from 1/16/26 to 2/12/26,” the statement reads. “If you used the gender-neutral restroom in the north end of the A concourse between those dates, please call 816-243-5175 to submit your information for the investigation.”
