Bass Pro Shops set to unveil first-ever employee medical facility in fall 2022

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Bass Pro Shops has announced it will be opening a new family health center for all Bass Pro employees and their families.

Adjacent to Bass Pro Shops Base Camp in Springfield, the direct care facility will be located inside the old Greyhound bus station on E. Kearney. The clinic also will feature a drive-thru pharmacy for convenient, on-site prescriptions.

The facility is partnering with Premise Health and will focus on high-quality primary health care, preventative wellness and acute and chronic conditions. Employees will receive discounted pricing for their own personal care.

“We are very excited to be partnered with Premise Health for this,” Bass Pro Spokesperson Janet Glaser said. “They are an industry-leading healthcare provider that runs more than 600 clinics in 44 states. They have a best-in-class operation and they are well known because they operate clinics for similar people such as Disney, Walgreens, Toyota and Capital One.”

Premise Health is a direct-care provider, meaning it throws out insurance companies acting as middlemen and deals directly with the patient. Those with health insurance will still be able to use the facility as they would a standard care provider.

“Direct health care, in a nutshell, is providing care directly to employees and dependents, or the members of large organizations,” Premise Health President Jami Doucette told the Springfield News-Leader.

Premise Health follows standard Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA) guidelines to protect sensitive health information, and assures utmost privacy to its patients.

The idea for the clinic was inspired by Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris’ trip to Toyota and Swarovski Optik’s headquarters.

“We are excited to deliver the best and most convenient health care available to our Ozarks area Outfitters and their families,” Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris said in a press release. “We are grateful for the continued hard work and dedication of the ‘World’s Foremost Outfitters.’ We hope that the facility will provide benefit and peace of mind for our people and their families for many years to come.”

According to the 2021 Retail Report, Bass Pro Shops is recognized as the most trusted outdoor retailer in America. In 2021, the company was named by Forbes Magazine as one of the “Best Places To Work” in the United States.
