A 31-year-old Turkish national is in federal custody after being caught in a sting operation allegedly attempting to prey on a teen girl in the St. Louis region last week.
Operation 17:2 worked with St. Louis Against Predators (SLAP) and the Saint Ann Police Department to intercept Fatih Gunhan.

A video shows Gunhan being confronted at a restaurant in Saint Ann, Missouri. Through a translator, Gunhan claimed he was speaking with an 18-year-old but screenshots of the online chat show the decoy clearly stated she was 13.
The end of the video features disturbing pictures of Gunhan and an audio clip of him singing an impromptu song declaring his love for the young girl he thought he was speaking with.
Charges submitted by the Saint Ann Police Department to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Office are being taken under advisement.

Records from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) show Gunhan is being held at the Ste. Genevieve County Detention Center, which is frequently used to house federal detainees in southeast Missouri.
The Saint Ann Police Department became an official 287(g) participating agency in February, a program allowing local officers to perform specific federal immigration functions like ICE agents.
