A career criminal is facing an attempted first-degree murder charge after allegedly stabbing a woman at a Kansas City park on Thursday.
Kwan Trezvant, 27, is accused of stabbing Indian Trail Middle School teacher Jamie Trumpp at Two Trails Park in KC suburb Olathe “completely unprovoked,” the Olathe Reporter says.

Trumpp was enjoying the park with her family on an unseasonably warm spring break midday when she was stabbed in the neck in a seemingly random attack, KSN news reports.
Some social media users claimed Trezvant was trying to kidnap a child and that Trumpp stopped him, but other eyewitnesses and the Olathe Police Department say the claim isn’t true.
“They are out there enjoying this beautiful day and there are these kids, they were playing and they were up on the playground having a great time,” Mark Moore, an Olathe school bus driver and eyewitness, said.

Moore explained he and other bystanders stepped in to help Trumpp after she was stabbed, with one woman trying to slow the bleeding by holding a towel on her neck. Trumpp was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive, according to the Reporter.
“The adults that were there, they all circled the wagons, they stepped in, helped take care of the kids and all that,” Moore said to KSN. “You like to see that in the community.”
Trezvant was arrested at least four times over the past two years and was released on minimal bond by Judge Thomas Sutherland, according to popular X account Libs of TikTok. The Reporter says Trezvant pled guilty to misdemeanors of obstructing the legal process and possession of drug paraphernalia in 2020 along with battery of a law enforcement officer in 2024.
“The soft on crime judges are responsible for the harm coming from their lack of serious concern for innocent citizens,” an X user commented to Libs of TikTok.
“This is what the liberal mentality allows,” another wrote. “This guy should be in jail or removed from society.”
“Are we really responsible for putting these freaks on the street? Looks like it. Until the perps AND the judges are made to pay….it will keep happening,” commented another.
Trezvant is reportedly being held on a $500,000 bond.
