Kansas City airport among weekend security threats amid Democrat government shutdown

A bomb scare at Kansas City International Airport (KCI) Sunday isn’t considered an act of terror – though it comes amid others around the world that are.

The Kansas City Aviation Department received a call Sunday morning warning officials of a potential bomb in a parking garage and a terminal at KCI, leading to travelers in nearby terminals being evacuated for two hours to nearby parking lots as a precaution while others remained on stranded planes.

Airport police officers and FBI agents responded to the potential threat and searched the buildings. A suspicious vehicle in the parking garage was flagged during a K-9 search and Kansas City Police Department’s Bomb and Arson Section was called.

Investigators established the vehicle wasn’t dangerous and no bombs were found. Passengers were allowed back into the building after over two hours of waiting, but the parking garage remained closed off for another three hours.

The threat was reviewed and determined not to be credible,” FBI Director Kash Patel said. “Threats like these are a federal crime. FBI and law enforcement partners will fully investigate and bring to justice anyone responsible.”

The incident at KCI happened during the ongoing Democrat-initiated partial government shutdown that has defunded the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), causing longer wait times at airports even without an evacuation taking place.

“Maybe Congress can pass the Homeland Security funding now,” an X user commented regarding the terror scare at KCI. “If they don’t these delays are on @SenSchumer @RepJeffries. Continuing to play chicken with American travelers will be remembered at midterms.”

“Defund the police…. Remember .. ?!?” another person commented. “Oh, wait, we want the police now…? Can’t keep up with what the current trend is.”

The KCI incident isn’t being investigated as an act of terrorism, but an attempted bombing in New York City and an explosion at a U.S. Embassy in Norway are.

“Today’s incident in KC happened while Democrats continue to defund the Department of Homeland Security,” Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt wrote on X. “Americans’ safety is at risk while Democrats theatrically oppose immigration enforcement to appease their radical base.”

“This chaos is a direct result of Democrats’ refusal to fund DHS,” Homeland Security posted. “Their political stunt is forcing patriotic TSA officers to work without pay — leading to financial hardship, absences, and crippling staffing shortages.”

“Americans’ safety and security are on the line each day the Democrat Shutdown continues,” The White House wrote on Monday.
