(The Lion) — Only God could save him, singer Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, told the audience at a concert in Portland, Oregon.
“I came from a long line of drug addicts and people that had been in and out of prison,” he said, sharing how he became like them. “I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life being a drug addict that was in and out of prison.
“I thought I didn’t have a chance. I thought I was absolutely hopeless. I thought not a person in the world could save me – and I was right. But God sure could, baby!
“He gave me his grace, he gave me his glory, he changed my life instantly. It was the wildest thing – I never saw it coming.”
