(The Lion) — Charles Barkley might vote for Democrats, but he disagrees with liberals on the transgender athlete issue.
“I’m going to make this very simple for you, Dan. Men should not play sports against women,” the NBA Hall of Famer said on Outkick’s Don’t @ Me with Dan Dakich this week. “I’m not going to get into all the bulls**t that’s going on out here in the world today.
“Men should not play sports against women. If anybody thinks that, I think they’re stupid. I support the gay community 100%. I support the transgender community 100%. But I do not, under any circumstances … think that men should play sports against women.”
Barkley added the left can’t bully him into changing his mind.
“If anybody has a problem with that, they’re going to have to get over it because I’m not going to change my [mind]. I just think it’s wrong, period,” he said.
“I don’t even think that’s controversial… I don’t want to hear you try to explain it to me. No, no, no, I don’t want to hear it. I’m not going to argue with you. Men shouldn’t play sports against women. I’m done.”
While Barkley supports people identifying as members of the opposite sex, he does not think children should undergo irreversible procedures to do it.
“I don’t even think anybody knows who they are as a young kid. So I think we have to be very careful because you don’t want to put kids in a disadvantageous situation, because, hey, when you get older, you can make your own decision,” he said. “I think we have to be very careful screwing around with kids because they’re not fully developed as a person.”
Barkley voted for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. However, he has also blasted her campaign for being out of touch with the American people.
“We still haven’t solved the immigration problem … never addressed inflation,” Barkley said in November 2024. “Bringing all these stupid stars out to rally the vote, what was that? I love Beyoncé. That ain’t going to make me vote a certain type of way … you guys lost because y’all stupid. Come up with solutions.”
An NBC News poll released last month found 75% of Americans oppose transgender-identifying males in women’s sports, while 25% support it.
