Hawley: Time for ‘targeted’ impeachment-style House investigation of President Biden for his family’s shadowy foreign earnings

Sen. Josh Hawley Wednesday called for a “targeted investigation” by the House of President Joe Biden’s involvement in his son’s millions in payments from foreign actors – something that sounds very much like an impeachment inquiry.

It certainly sounds just like the impeachment inquiry idea floated Tuesday by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

“Well, I think what it’s time to do is what McCarthy was talking about, which is to stand up an investigative effort to get the facts here,” Hawley said in an exclusive interview with The Heartlander.

“There needs to be a targeted investigation into whether or not Biden is a crook. Joe Biden, I’m talking about. I think we know about Hunter. But Joe Biden? He said he didn’t have any business dealings with Hunter. Really? Because the witnesses say that if you add them all up, he had like 200 separate contacts with Hunter’s business clients, many of whom were foreign agents. So that right there is a major discrepancy. We also have evidence that Biden took foreign bribes from Ukrainian officials.

“We need to find out. So, I don’t care how they label their committee that does it. I don’t care if they call it impeachment or oversight or whatever. But the bottom line is, the House needs to get the facts. And the American people deserve to know.”

Hawley’s comments came hot on the heels of Wednesday’s thunderous collapse of a plea deal in the Hunter Biden tax evasion and illegal gun case.

Instead of approving a deal allowing the younger Biden to plead to two misdemeanor counts of failure to pay taxes, federal Judge Maryellen Noreika insisted the deal not grant him immunity from more serious charges involving his business dealings. The two sides couldn’t agree on that, and the deal was off, at least for the moment.

The deal might have forestalled ongoing legal investigations into those business dealings and the president’s role in them.

The deal’s crash and burn is an ominous sign for the Bidens, including the president.

“I think what this is showing,” Hawley says, “is that the judge was hugely skeptical of the idea that somehow they just give Hunter Biden immunity from all further prosecution on any subject. And the judge rightly said, ‘No, I’m not going to approve that.’ Which just shows you how outrageous the plea deal was to begin with.

“But it also shows you there are probably more crimes here, and that the judge is very, very skeptical – and it sounds like prosecutors now are too – of just saying, ‘Yeah, blanket immunity.’ They’re like, ‘No, no, no, no, no, no, no, we’re not going to give you blanket immunity for anything.’

“From what we know – from the whistleblowers, from testimony before the House committee – there definitely appear to be more crimes here. And more importantly, crimes that involve Joe Biden. And that’s what we’ve got to get to the bottom of.”
