New all-in-one complex hopes to bring more visitors to Lake of the Ozarks during the off-season

LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. – Lake of the Ozarks developers Dr. Dan Foster and his son are planning to construct a major event center and sports facility complete with a built-in hotel.

The Foster family owns Peninsula Inc. and have been constructing condos at Lake of the Ozarks and other areas for decades. Dr. Foster is known as one of the most accomplished condo developers in the state of Missouri and has owned the land where the 140,000 square-foot complex will sit since 2004.

The Fosters are teaming up with Dave Mashburn of Mashburn Development to complete the new waterfront complex. Mashburn was director of development for John Q. Hammons Hotels and Resorts and Bass Pro Shops.

Mashburn recently told Lake Expo that the complex will be a hybrid building accommodating trade shows, concerts, conventions, youth sports and even Esports. Many expect the new development to bring more visitors to the Lake and provide a boost in the area’s tourism revenue during the slow winter months.

“It has taken time and money to put this together but it has been worth the effort,” Foster told Lake Expo. “My family has been in Camden County since the 1820s and we want to give something back. The area has long wanted and needed a year-round event center. We are partnering with a major indoor sports group to build something that will be an enduring value for the entire lake community.”

The Fosters and Mashburn Development hope to break ground on the facility by summer of this year. The new entertainment and sporting complex will sit on property directly off Route KK just west of Osage Beach.
