‘Stop the show’: Forrest Frank halts concert to pray for woman battling cancer

Forrest Frank’s tours are known for energetic worship and dazzling stage production, but one recent stop took a different turn as the award-winning singer paused the concert for a quiet moment of prayer with an audience member fighting cancer.

The moment came as Frank prepared to perform his hit song God Is Good and as he interacted with audience members near the front of the stage, where a young girl held a sign reading, “My dream is to rap with you.”

Such moments have become a hallmark of Frank’s Jesus Generation Tour, with the Christian artist regularly inviting children onstage to sing or rap alongside him as thousands of fans cheer them on.

This encounter quickly took an unexpected and emotional turn.

The Instagram video, which has garnered more than 1 million likes, begins like many of Frank’s onstage interactions, with the girl admitting she’s nervous and Frank reassuring her, “You can’t mess up worshiping God.” She then confidently delivers her rap, and Frank embraces her with a hug when she’s finished.

But before leaving the stage, the girl turns to the front row and tells the crowd, “I want to give a shout-out to my mom.” She then adds, “I’d like everybody to pray for her because she has breast cancer.”

Frank later discussed the moment on Pastor JP Pokluda’s Become Something podcast, saying he initially wasn’t sure how to react, because the girl’s request came during a fast-moving part of the concert.

“The next song had started,” he said.

Frank said he urged the audience to pray for the girl’s mom before he paused and realized God was calling him to do more.

“I have an opportunity. So I said, ‘Stop the show’ – and went down and then we all just as, you know – 18,000 people – we all just prayed over her,” Frank told Pokluda.

The video shows Frank standing in front of the girl’s mom on the front row, his arm on her shoulder as he prays, “Lord, we just lift up this mom in Jesus’ name. By the stripes of Jesus, we are healed. So I just pray that breast cancer would leave her body, and I just thank You for the boldness of her daughter to interrupt the show in front of all of these people to request that from You, Jesus. So, would You reward the faith of this child, this sweet family? In Jesus’ name – Amen.”

He wrote on Instagram, “If you’re reading this say a prayer for her!!”

The moment was one of many memorable scenes from Frank’s 29-city Jesus Generation Tour, which concluded Aug. 1 before a sold-out crowd of 35,000 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Promoters say the tour drew more than 500,000 fans, making it the biggest Christian music tour in history.
