WATCH: Florida’s newest senator calls for school choice expansion nationwide 

Sen. Ashley Moody, R-Florida, is championing a new federal tax credit scholarship designed to help millions of students get the education their parents choose.

The Education Freedom Tax Credit takes effect in January, but states are preparing now to join the program.

Moody spoke from the Senate floor Thursday to make the case for school choice by pointing to her home state’s improved graduation rates. She says parents understand their children’s unique talents far better than federal bureaucrats.

Moody was appointed to her position last year to fill the vacancy left by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
