Jordan Wilmore, a former University of Missouri basketball player, has become one of Texas’ tallest police officers.
Wilmore played at Mizzou, Northwestern State and Austin Peay before graduating in 2024 and playing overseas, but he returned to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer.
He was sworn in Tuesday in Kemah, a Galveston Bay resort town near Houston.
“I didn’t really become a police officer just to arrest people,” said the 7-foot-3 center, who towered over Police Chief Raymond Garivey at his swearing-in. “I just want to be the community officer as well.”
The department is reportedly searching for a custom vehicle and firearm because of Wilmore’s size.
