Apparent illegal immigrant arrested after officers rescue child from hot car outside KCK store

A possible illegal immigrant was arrested Wednesday after a child was left in a hot car in a Kansas City, Kansas, store parking lot and officers broke in to rescue the minor.

The incident happened just after 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Target store parking lot at the Legends Outlets outdoor shopping mall.

According to local news reports, officials from the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Department, Kansas City Kansas Fire Department and the Kansas City Kansas Police Department responded to a report of a child left in a hot car.

Officers broke a window to rescue the child, who was reported to be in good condition. The mother was arrested after emerging from the store, while the child was subsequently checked out at a hospital and placed in protective custody.

Jail reports indicate the arrest Wednesday of Yeraldin Barcenas Bolivar, 34, for aggravated endangering of a child, though no formal charging documents were available Friday morning.

Jail records indicate she is Venezuelan and that an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer has been placed on her.
