Largest teachers’ union labels Trump ‘fascist,’ urges resisting ICE in shocking revelations

(The Lion) — A well-regarded education watchdog has published a raft of alarming resolutions adopted by the National Education Association at its latest national assembly.

They include a measure that encourages resistance of federal immigration enforcement and another that mandates labeling President Donald Trump a fascist in all union materials.

Senior Fellow at the American Culture Project Corey DeAngelis obtained a copy of the NEA’s recently passed resolutions and posted them to X.

“I just received a copy of the National Education Association’s resolutions that they passed at their annual convention,” said DeAngelis. “They kept them private this year.”

It’s not the first time in recent years a teachers’ union has attempted to hide controversial resolutions passed by members.

In 2023, the Colorado Education Association, an affiliate of the NEA, was hammered after it was revealed they kept hidden pro-Marxist language in their resolutions when a whistleblower inside the organization leaked the documents to The Lion.

This year’s NEA Business Item Number 60, which indicated it was adopted, and subsequently leaked by a presumptive whistleblower to DeAngelis, states:

NEA pledges to defend democracy against Trump’s embrace of fascism by using the term facism [sic] in NEA materials to correctly characterize Donald Trump’s program and actions.

The members and material resources of NEA must be committed to the defense of the democratic and educational conditions required by our hopes for a just society and the survival of civilization itself by stating the truth.

Notably, the NEA resolution misspelled the word fascism, which some observers may find ironic in light of poor reading scores in public schools around the nation.

In other resolutions, the NEA called Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids to deport illegal aliens “kidnapping” and encouraged children to actively organize against law enforcement operations that the U.S. Supreme Court has declared lawful.

A Trump administration policy issued in January allows deportation raids at sensitive areas such as hospitals and schools, though ICE reportedly has no plans to conduct school raids.

“NEA will use existing media platforms to organize and join actions with other unions, communities, immigrant rights, and civil rights organizations in support of defending students’ right to protest,” added the NEA’s adopted New Business Item 63.

Critics have said this type of anti-ICE rhetoric coming from far-left liberals, using words such as “kidnapping” to describe routine law-enforcement actions, has led to increase in targeted violence against ICE agents.

This week 10 individuals were charged with attempted murder for an organized attack where an officer was shot in the neck at an ICE facility in Texas on the 4th of July.

“The Department has zero tolerance for assaults on federal officers or property and will bring the full weight of the law against those responsible,” said Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.
