Schmitt takes to national media, personal video, to inform, excite Americans about Big Beautiful Bill passage

With rumors and misinformation about the Big Beautiful Bill swirling online leading up to its Senate passage Tuesday, Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt became a go-to source for national media on what it really does.

When an amendment getting illegal immigrants off Medicaid failed on the Senate floor, causing conservatives to panic and rebel on X, Schmitt calmed the waters – explaining that the vote was merely to get Democrat opposition on the record.

“The ban itself was ALREADY in the bill. It was never taken out,” Schmitt explained in a series of X posts.

“And it wasn’t just a ban on some Medicaid for illegal immigrants who commit heinous crimes—it applies to ALL Medicaid for ALL illegal immigrants. (And most noncitizens generally).”

On Monday, while the bill was pending in the Senate, Schmitt updated and informed Newsmax viewers in a Reaganesque pep talk.

“This bill is going to deliver for the American people,” Schmitt said. “You’ve got no tax on tips. You’ve got no tax on overtime. You’ve got the largest tax cut in American history preserved. The Democrats would actually be voting for the largest tax increase in the history of the country by voting no on this.

“You also have money to secure the border. More ICE agents, more detention beds for mass deportations. You got money for our military. You got money for allowing people to save more for their college tuition. For individuals with disabilities, there’s provisions in here to make sure those safety nets are strengthened.

“There’s only one class of individuals that are going to lose their benefits. It’s … 1.5 million illegals who currently get taxpayer benefits they shouldn’t. They’ll no longer be able to do that. And then also, if you’re an able bodied adult, there are work requirements.

“We are actually strengthening [Medicaid] for individuals who need it most.”

Schmitt also recapped President Trump’s prolific accomplishments of the past week – the Iran strike and a quick “pivoting to peace”; his successful push to increase military funding by our NATO partners; significant wins in the Supreme Court; and now the Big Beautiful Bill.

“This is pretty unprecedented,” he told Newsmax. “It’s a good time to be an American. We’re back baby.”

Schmitt also put out a short personal video after the bill’s passage explaining its benefits for his constituents in Missouri.

Schmitt’s office also sent out a press release describing some of those benefits:

  • Tax cuts that will result in Missouri families seeing take home pay increase between $6,900 to $11,600.
  • Schmitt’s ENABLE Act, which enhances ABLE (529a) accounts, which are tax-advantaged savings plans for individuals with disabilities.
  • Schmitt’s Helping Communities with Better Support Act, which expands  home and community-based services to those with disabilities, which Schmitt says will cut multi-year waiting lists and allow thousands of individuals with disabilities to access care they need through home and community-based services.
  • Schmitt’s provision to double the cap for 529 plans from $10,000 to $20,000, allowing parents to invest more in their children’s primary and secondary education.
  • Schmitt’s Educational Choice for Children Act,  which provides a charitable donation incentive for individuals and businesses to fund scholarship awards for students to cover expenses related to K-12 public and private education.
  • Schmitt’s effort to make the 20% pass-through deduction permanent for Missouri small businesses.

“I proudly voted to move forward with President Trump’s America First agenda today,” Schmitt said in the release. “The One Big Beautiful Bill will prevent the largest tax hike in American history, secure our border, fund deportations, create American jobs, and keep our country safe.

“This is a win for families across Missouri, and I look forward to continuing to work with President Trump to usher in America’s Golden Age.”
