(The Lion) — “If it’s my way, I’ll stay and hold and feed a nation,” Delsia Bare says when asked why she turned down $26 million from a major data center company for her land.
The Kentucky rancher and her family have occupied the land, about an hour from Cincinnati, for generations, helping keep Americans fed from the Depression onward.
Bare’s mother, Ida Huddleston, said she doesn’t need the money. She also doesn’t believe promises that an artificial intelligence data center would bring jobs and boost the region’s economy.
“I say they’re a liar and the truth ain’t in them,” Huddleston, 82, told a local news reporter. “It’s a scam.”
