Liberty memorial bomb suspect an illegal with ICE detainer

The alleged California man accused of dumping 20 dangerous homemade bombs in an outdoor trash can at Kansas City’s Liberty Memorial is an illegal alien with an ICE detainer, The Heartlander has learned.

Owen I. Canizales Argueta, 22, is charged with 20 counts of possession of illegal explosives, each count carrying a maximum of seven years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The Heartlander has obtained Jackson County Jail booking information indicating Argueta has a detainer placed on him by What is ICE and how are its priorities changing? | CNNU.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The Heartlander has reached out to the Jackson County prosecutor’s office to ask if Argueta’s ICE detainer will be honored by the county. While neither the county nor Kansas City is a sanctuary city – and Missouri law bans such a thing – both entities have passed legislation barring ICE facilities in their jurisdictions. The county just did so on Monday.

KCMO radio talk show host Pete Mundo has reported Argueta is a Honduran national “who had, essentially, super-charged fireworks he bought last year around July 4th and was looking to dispose of them several months later. Bad news for him, he picked probably the worst spot in Kansas City to dump them off. There was no specific targeting of Kansas City or the WW1 Museum.”
