St. Louis man locked up after deadly Starbucks drive-thru shooting and crime spree

A St. Louis man is being held without bond after police say he gunned a woman down in a Starbucks drive-thru. Police are connecting the suspect with a recent flurry of armed robberies in the same region.

Keith Lamon Brown, 58, was arrested early Wednesday morning after a SWAT team executed a search warrant at his home, with police reporting Brown was armed at the time of his arrest.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Brown with first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, four counts of armed criminal action and three counts of first-degree robbery.

The shooting happened around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Starbucks in the 2300 block of South Grand Boulevard.

Investigators say Brown pointed a gun at the victim and demanded she raise her hands before he shot and killed her. He then stole her bank cards and driver’s license.

On Feb. 6, police say Brown went to a location on North Grand Boulevard and robbed a victim at gunpoint in a drive-thru. He allegedly stole a 9mm handgun, a purse and cell phones.

On Feb. 8, Brown allegedly robbed a cashier at a store on South Grand Boulevard. Authorities say he discharged his firearm during both of the earlier robberies.

Following the arrest, police found items belonging to the first robbery victim along with the murdered woman’s driver’s license.

Brown was captured on video during the robberies and the shooting while wearing a neon safety vest and hard hat.

Court records show Brown has an extensive criminal history. He was sentenced to 15 years in state prison in 1986 for robbery and armed criminal action. In 1996, he received a 30-year sentence for similar charges. Brown was reportedly on parole and had fled from supervision at the time of the recent crimes.

A judge ordered Brown to be detained for the safety of the community.
