(The Lion) — The FBI Tuesday released new images and videos in the search for “Today” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, as the investigation entered its tenth day.
The new footage shows an “armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance,” FBI Director Kash Patel said on X as the images were released. The individual is shown masked, wearing gloves, and carrying a backpack.
“We believe she is still alive,” Savannah Guthrie wrote on Instagram Tuesday, minutes after the new footage was made public. “Bring her home.” The post follows an emotional plea on Monday for the public to report any tips to law enforcement, as the NBC host called the situation a “nightmare” and said it has entered “an hour of desperation.”
“Thank you so much for all of the prayers and the love that we have felt, my sister and brother and I, and that our mom has felt, because we believe that somehow, someway, she is feeling these prayers, and that God is lifting her even in this moment and in this darkest place,” she said in a video message. “We believe our mom is still out there. We need your help.”
The FBI said the footage was “recovered from residual data located in backend systems,” after previously saying no footage was available. Guthrie, 84, was last seen on Jan. 31 after her family dropped her off at her home. In the early hours of Feb. 1, police said her doorbell camera was disconnected, and less than an hour later, her pacemaker app showed a disconnect from her phone.
On Monday, the 5 p.m. deadline passed for an alleged ransom note sent to media outlets, which demanded $6 million and reportedly included threats to Guthrie’s life, as CNN noted. Speaking to potential abductors over the weekend, the Guthrie family begged for the return of their mother so that “could celebrate with her,” noting it was “the only way we will have peace.”
“This is very valuable to us, and we will pay,” Savannah Guthrie said.
Law enforcement has not yet named a suspect or person of interest in the case.
