(The Lion) — Americans are buying Bibles and downloading Christian apps and music at surging levels not seen in years, according to recent data reported by Fox News.
“The most important news you will see all day… There is a Christian REVIVAL happening across the country,” conservative political commentator Benny Johnson said in a post on X Wednesday, reacting to the report. “God is good. This is how we win.”
His post displays a Fox News clip highlighting data on the significant rise of Bible sales, faith-based app downloads and Christian music streams over the past few years:
- Annual Bible sales in the U.S. have increased 41.6% since 2022, according to reports from Circana BookScan.
- Since 2019, downloads of “religion and spirituality” apps have skyrocketed, at an increase of 79.5%, according to Sensor Tower.
- Spotify streams of “contemporary Christian music” have also risen dramatically, with a 50% increase since 2019, according to Music Insights at Luminate.
“Christian music is quietly booming, thanks to a younger, streaming-forward fanbase that skews 60% female and 30% Millennial,” a Luminate Spotlight article reported in July.
Of these streamers, 75% listen to songs on repeat, Spotlight said, representing a “sign of high emotional connection.”
The data indicates what some observers call a revival of Christianity that has been brewing for years.
“What we’ve been saying for years is now factually undeniable,” author and influencer Sean Feucht said in a post on X. “A wave of revival is sweeping across America.”
Pastor Rich Bitterman of Cedar Ridge Baptist Church said revival begins slowly “in the quiet corners of ordinary life” when “people seek the kingdom first.” He encourages Christians to “wait on the Lord,” who will “strengthen your heart,” quoting Psalm 27:14.
“Faith is gathering like a summer storm on the horizon,” Bitterman said. “This is the steady work of God in living rooms and lunch breaks and late-night walks. Open your Bible. Speak to Him. Lift your heart where you stand. Revival isn’t coming. It’s already here, quietly writing a new story in lives across the country.”
