The uniforms are pinstripes, not camouflage, the battlefields being courtrooms not hillsides. But there’s a war on for control of this country. …
It also happens to be the first war in history in which each side is providing the other’s ammunition.

No one is saying it out loud. But the homicidal violence, threats and rhetoric now being directed at ICE agents is part of an increasingly literal guerrilla war between the two major political parties for control of this country.
Democrats, it’s abundantly clear, threw open the borders when Joe Biden became president – also throwing the door open to murders. Rapes. Robberies. Human trafficking. Political warfare.
The Biden administration used Border Patrol agents as one big Welcome Center for the illegal invasion. It provided a convenient phone app for illegals to schedule their illegal entry.
But even that wasn’t enough. No, the Biden administration actually flew illegals in.
It inarguably was a brazen, illegal, cynical scheme to import tens of millions of Democrat-leaning new voters in pursuit of permanent one-party rule – elsewhere known as “communism.”
Now the Trump administration is trying to undo the damage – to civil society and public safety, certainly, but also to the nation’s electoral integrity.
It’s the latter that no one is talking about. Republicans are attempting to reverse the Democrats’ ill-gotten electoral gain.
The war for control of America includes some sorry soldiers indeed: The leftist Dallas ICE facility shooter who killed one detainee and wounded two others in a blundering attempt to hinder deportations has been described as a “lazy stoner” and “a pot-obsessed slacker” who “worked a short-lived job on a legal cannabis farm.”
But the FBI says even he was able to track ICE agents through an app that liberal media have actually given free advertising to.
Meanwhile, rapper Ice Cube’s tour bus was apparently set ablaze last week in Portland, Oregon. “Please don’t tell me some leftist mistook the large “ICE CUBE” sign on the side of the bus for a reference to ICE, the federal agency because that would be insane!” one X poster writes sardonically.
Democrats know what they’re doing
Yet, if the infantrymen in the ground war against immigration enforcement are bumbling chimpanzees with dynamite, their Democrat generals know exactly what they’re doing and why: They’re consciously, intentionally whipping up a rabid froth against ICE agents – and all MAGA supporters – among their malleable moronic minions.
And they’re doing it for one reason and one reason alone: They want to stop the deportation of their illegally obtained future voting base.
It’s why California Gov. Gavin Newsom is so intent to keep National Guard soldiers out of it, and to require that ICE agents show their faces – so his followers can dox and otherwise harass and demoralize those who are deporting his hoped-for voters.
Newsom is hardly alone. Fox News produced a compilation of damning sound bites in which high-profile Democrats are demonizing ICE agents – and in the process encouraging violence against them.
It’s no accident. Nor is this a humanitarian mission – unless Democrats have somehow become delusional enough to believe MS-13 gang members and other ne’er-do-wells here illegally are ideal candidates for the local Rotary Club.
They know better than that. The Democrats’ actions are purposeful and knowing, and in furtherance of the war for control of this country.
As a result, the Department of Homeland Security says Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have seen a more than 1,000% increase in assaults against them of late.
Imagine being that power mad, that you would be willing to let people die and be assaulted and the country be torn apart – all for the sake of your own political future.
War is hell, one supposes.
But let’s at least be honest about it.
When I wrote the above-quoted Augusta Chronicle editorial in 2018, a reader complained to me bitterly about my use of a war metaphor in politics.
It doesn’t seem like such a metaphor anymore.
