My fellow Missourians,
After 9/11, I took an oath to protect our nation and defend the Constitution. With every oath comes a duty, and when duty calls, we must answer. That call has come again, and I will soon begin serving in a new capacity at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Although my time as Missouri’s 44th Attorney General was shorter than we anticipated, I am profoundly grateful for every day you allowed me to serve. It has been the honor of my life to stand alongside the dedicated men and women of the Attorney General’s Office on behalf of you and your families. Together, we have accomplished much for the people of this great state.
As a team, we pushed back against federal overreach and unlawful mandates. We stopped every attempt by the Biden Administration to force working Missouri families to shoulder the debt of others through illegal student loan forgiveness. We protected Missouri farmers by halting federal efforts to trample on their property rights through the Grain Belt Express. And we stood up for free speech—combatting Big Tech censorship and leading the landmark Missouri v. Biden case all the way to the Supreme Court.
We also worked tirelessly to protect the most vulnerable. Our office fought to hold Planned Parenthood accountable when they endangered women and children, and we became the first state in the nation to drive gender transition procedures for children out of practice. As a foster and adoptive parent, protecting life and defending parental rights was never abstract—it was personal.
From day one, we strengthened partnerships with local prosecutors, increasing criminal prosecutions by more than 100%. We rooted out corruption, filed actions against officials who abused their offices, and supported law enforcement in their mission to keep our communities safe. These efforts were only possible because of the tireless, talented public servants who make up the Attorney General’s Office.
Missouri has always been home, and it always will be. Though my next duty takes me to Washington, I will return when my service there is complete. The fight to defend liberty and protect Missouri families does not end with my departure, and I urge all of us to stay committed to that cause.
I leave this role with deep gratitude—for the opportunity to serve, for the trust you placed in me, and for the remarkable team who worked every day to defend our Constitution, safeguard our freedoms, and uphold justice.
The call to service has defined my life. Today, that call takes me elsewhere. Tomorrow, it may bring me home again. Until then, I will remain in the fight for the principles we hold dear.
Thank you, Missouri, for the honor of serving you.
Stay in the fight,
ANDREW BAILEY
