An illegal alien in Kansas City was sentenced to 26 months in prison Tuesday for re-entering the U.S. after having been deported.
Jaime Flores-Ortega, 31, had been convicted in October 2016 of being an alien in possession of a firearm. He was subsequently deported in 2017, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri.
Then, last Oct. 26, Flores-Ortega was arrested by Kansas City police for leaving the scene of an accident.
“Flores-Ortega was subsequently identified as an alien unlawfully present in the U.S. who had been previously removed twice to Mexico,” the office said in a statement Tuesday.
He “pleaded guilty to unlawful reentry after deportation for an aggravated felony” before being sentenced to 26 months on Tuesday by Senior U.S. District Judge Howard Sachs.
