Dr. Valeria Gurr, a first-generation immigrant and school choice advocate, says the key to success is perseverance and believing in yourself.

“My message to younger generations and Latinos is don’t give up,” she says.

“You’re going to face a lot of barriers in life, but don’t let that stop you, and also don’t stop yourself.”

Gurr, who holds a PhD, says school choice helps unlock students’ potential.

“What I also hear from other school choice students is that when they believe in themselves, they’re able to accomplish anything they want in life.”
