Hawley dishes on courts’ ‘threat to our constitutional order,’ KJP’s shocking split from Dems

Liberals hated national injunctions under Biden, but love them under Trump as they’re “destroying our constitutional system,” says Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley.

Meanwhile, Hawley says of former Biden press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s stunning announcement of being an independent, “I’m not surprised that she doesn’t have any confidence in the Democrat Party. I mean, after all they hired her. How bright can they really be?

“These Biden people. It’s a joke. They spent four years lying to the country. ‘Oh, he’s fine, he’s in full command of his faculties.’ Lies, lies, lies. And now all of a sudden, they have gotten a conscience. And so now it’s ‘Well, we really wanted to tell the truth.’ Give me a break. These people are ridiculous. They’re just ridiculous.”

Hawley went toe-to-toe in a Senate hearing this week with a liberal law professor who defends the astonishing number of injunctions levied at the Trump administration by liberal judges.

“You were very concerned about it just a couple of years ago” while Biden was president, Hawley told the professor from the University of Pennsylvania. “You said in response to a nationwide injunction on the Biden FDA’s mifepristone rules, and I quote, ‘This injunction’s a travesty for principles of democracy, notions of judicial impartiality and the rule of law.’”

The professor is wrong and is being selective in her sudden support of such injunctions under a Republican president, Hawley tells The Heartlander in an exclusive interview Thursday.

“Well, she’s wrong because she says that this is perfectly fine and we’ve always done this. No, we haven’t,” Hawley says. “Nationwide injunctions were never used until the 1960s, and they were basically never used until Trump. The truth is that you almost never saw an injunction nationwide until Donald Trump.

“And here’s the other thing: Almost all the judges who are issuing these injunctions against Trump are all liberals. Surprise! And they all come from liberal jurisdictions. So now all these Democrats who spent the last four years saying we don’t want nationwide injunctions, they’re horrible – when Biden was subjected to them, they said, ‘Oh, they’re horrible, we don’t want them, we should eliminate them’ – now they love them, because Trump’s back in office.

“It’s all politics. It’s 100% politics. The only people who are consistent here are the folks who say we should get rid of nationwide injunctions no matter who’s in office. And that includes me. We ought to just get rid of them.

“District courts shouldn’t have this power. District courts weren’t elected president. District courts aren’t the Supreme Court. They shouldn’t have this power. And really, what they’re doing now, in trying to play president and play Supreme Court, is extremely dangerous, and it’s harming this country. It’s ruining our rule of law.”

The professor, Kate Shaw, suggested Trump might be attracting many more injunctions than other presidents because “he is engaged in much more lawless activity than other presidents.”

The Heartlander asked Hawley what Trump has done that’s been lawless.

“Yeah, right,” he said. “Just like Joe Biden, who said to the Supreme Court over and over, ‘It doesn’t matter what you do, you’re not going to stop me.’ He was slapped down, I think it was three times, at the Supreme Court on student loans. He went right ahead and did it anyway.

“I mean, this is the guy who sent the FBI to go after parents because he didn’t like what parents were saying at school board meetings. You want to talk about lawless!

“And listen, all of the judges who are issuing these injunctions against Trump just happen to be in Democrat-controlled jurisdictions and courts. I mean, oh, what a coincidence.

“It’s all politics. It’s 100% politics. It’s 100% about ‘stop Trump.’ The rule of law is supposed to be blind, not blinded by rage. And right now, the liberals are raging, just like that professor was. They are beside themselves. They can’t admit the truth, and they’re destroying our constitutional system, and we have to stop it.

“Here’s the latest: Now we can’t deport terrorists who clearly have violated the laws of this country. And by the way, that terrorist in Colorado, before he committed a crime he wasn’t supposed to be here. His visa expired years ago. That’s before he firebombed a group of Jewish Americans.

“And yet the liberals are running to defend him and his family. ‘Oh, we can’t deport them.’ Why not? They are criminals; they’re here illegally. And he is an attempted mass murderer. It’s just absurd. It’s absurd.

“And the fact that these courts are trying to stop the president from executing his responsibilities and prerogatives under Article 2 of the Constitution is absolutely a threat to our constitutional order.”
