(The Lion) — Homeschool student Juliette Leong is 9 years old and already doing high school math.
She has also “performed at Carnegie Hall, won six national math competitions, and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to nonprofit organizations through the sales” of paintings, she told lawmakers.
“But what about the child with the same potential whose family can’t afford to homeschool?” she asked the Nevada Assembly’s Ways and Means Committee, testifying in support of a school choice expansion bill introduced by Gov. Joe Lombardo.
“Our school system is too large and too slow to keep up with the world shaped by rapidly changing job markets,” she said. “That’s why families need options like smaller private schools, charter schools and homeschooling.”
