NY woman who assaulted pro-life advocate in viral video now claims she’s the victim

(The Lion) — A pro-life advocate was violently struck in the face while filming a street interview in New York Thursday – and now the alleged attacker says she’s the victim.

“I was just assaulted in Harlem interviewing people on the street. In cop car. Heading to hospital. Updates soon. ABORTION SUPPORTERS ARE VIOLENT!” Savannah Craven reportedly posted on social media.

“My wife was assaulted by a pro-abortion woman we were interviewing. The woman became aggressive and violent upon learning Savannah’s pro-life stance,” Craven’s husband Henry Antao said in a statement.

Craven, a reporter for Live Action, says her attacker initially asked to be interviewed and even paid her and her husband compliments on their appearance when she approached them. Live Action is a nonprofit “dedicated to ending abortion and building a culture of life.”

However, the video shows that while the interview started off cordially, it quickly escalated into violence when it became evident the interviewee didn’t share Live Action’s views on abortion.

The assailant, now identified as Brianna Rivers of the Bronx, appeared to become combative while discussing alternatives to abortion.

“Why not? Who’s going to take care of them?” Rivers bizarrely proclaims when asked if foster children should be killed since they’re “unwanted.”

“I need to know the percentage of people who take children from foster care and abuse them and molest them, who make them personal slaves. I need specifics before you come to talk to me about pro-life,” she argues.

“If I don’t want to have a baby, I should have the choice to have the baby or not,” she continues before calling Craven “dumb as f–k” for even suggesting abstinence as an effective means of preventing unwanted births.

“That’s not logical,” she quips.

“I’m not the one who admitted they would be OK with killing babies in foster care and killing children that have been abused,” Craven replies, drawing Rivers’ ire.

“That’s not the point. What I’m saying is …” Rivers retorts before sucker-punching Craven twice and running away while yelling another expletive.

Sadly, Craven says violence from pro-abortion activists isn’t unexpected.

“A lot of the pro-abortion movement is violence and abortion is violence, therefore it breeds violence,” Craven, who also goes by Savannah Craven Antao, told the New York Post Saturday while recounting the harrowing incident.

On previous occasions she describes having been spit on, screamed at and even having someone wish she’d be raped, impregnated and forced to give birth.

But this, she says, was the most violent encounter she’s experienced, leaving her with two stitches below her right eyebrow, a swollen left eye and intense pain in her nasal area.

Yet, despite all the physical pain, it’s the psychological wounds that may take longest to heal.

“Mentally, I’m kind of struggling. I am having a lot of stress — just flashbacks about what happened to me. Every time I go on my phone and I open any social media, I see the video of myself being assaulted. And it’s like I go back to the moment. It’s terrifying.

“She decked me right in the face absolutely out of nowhere. Totally came out of left field, would never have expected it.”

Adding insult to injury, Rivers now claims she was actually the victim, despite the incident being captured on video. In a Facebook post, she seems to argue she was goaded into the assault by a professional rabble rouser who egged her on until a physical altercation was all but unavoidable.

“I need a platform to share my side of events,” Rivers posted Saturday. “She has 7 million views making me out to be a ‘child killing’ monster when she knows the truth. She railroaded me into all of this. She needs to release the unedited footage with her relentless antagonization on a subject that is very touchy.

“I will not allow my image to be defamed by this woman’s actions. Anyone who knows me knows how respectful I am, I don’t even litter, there’s no way you believe I’m punching people for disagreeing with my POV.

“To Savannah, I sincerely apologize but cannot sit around and allow you to continue pushing this one sided narrative. I understand hands being put on someone is never the answer, but throwing rocks and hiding hands is worse. She knows the truth and she needs to release the footage in its entirety. Savannah is a professional antagonist not a ‘reporter’ and the truth will be told.”

Ultimately, while Craven says she wants Rivers held responsible for her actions, she says she’ll also pray for her attacker.

“There’s probably a lot of people that want to hit me, but it takes a lot for you to just assault someone for different opinions. I mean, apparently not for somebody like her. If she was going to do this on camera and didn’t care that there was a camera recording her, then you can imagine what she does off camera.

“I believe that this woman was hurt. We want justice, but we also want to pray for this woman because she is obviously going through something a lot deeper. I have no words.”

It’s unclear whether files will be charged in the case.
