Hate is not a strategy: Democrats took a Trump-loathing blowtorch to the ruins of their own party this day

Democrats self-immolated on live television Tuesday night.

In the process they left the party in charred remains.

In sometimes childish, churlish but mostly silent, coldhearted protest during President Trump’s speech to the Joint Session of Congress, they openly spat on statements and spectacles that all patriotic Americans should revel in.

Such as the capture of a terrorist behind the Afghanistan bombing that killed 13 U.S. servicemembers.

Such as tender tributes to brokenhearted victims who’ve lost loved ones due to unalloyed federal failures, and inspiring salutes to heroic youths striving to serve the nation.

They even sat on their hands while the rest of the chamber exploded in love and encouragement for 13-year-old brain cancer survivor Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, an aspiring law enforcement officer whom Trump made an honorary Secret Service agent on the spot.

How can anyone with a pulse not be moved to one’s feet by that – unless paralyzed by abject hatred?

Indeed, it’s truly astounding: After throwing everything they could at Trump – including spying on his campaign, impeaching him twice, throwing together a mixed salad of court cases against him – and then getting shellacked by him in November, Democrats still think hating on him is a winning strategy.

That cynical, manipulative miscalculation was laid bare for all to see Tuesday night.

In Wednesday morning’s sunlit ashes of their self-immolation, it’s clear Democrats have only widened what is already the most colossal political chasm this country has seen since the Civil War.

They’ve also done what they claimed Trump couldn’t do in his first four years: they made him look utterly presidential.

They did it by looking and acting sour, dour, hateful and spiteful – even toward the most sympathetic figures in the chamber.

And, oh, their rank hypocrisy. Hours after voting in lockstep against a bill to protect girls and women in sports – and while failing to acknowledge Payton McNabb, a high school player who suffered a traumatic brain injury and whose athletic career was ended by a biological male’s spiked volleyball – they wore pink in supposed solidarity with women.

Spare us your fake virtue signaling. Your party is in ruins. As Gaza was destroyed by Hamas’ naked hatred for Israel, Democrats have demolished their party with their unrelenting blind rage toward Donald Trump.

“They don’t love our country, they don’t love our flag, they don’t love the American people,” girls and women activist Riley Gaines said after the Democrat debacle. “They are soulless, they are insufferable and can only be described as immoral and evil.”

The re-emergence of Trumpian conservatism is the only thing that has saved America from a collapse into the tyranny of unscrupulous leftists. Their assaults on speech, on law and order, on the border, on the religious and more are becoming smaller by the day in the rear-view mirror.

Thank God for that.

But not even diehard conservatives should cheer on this Kool-Aid-fueled Democrat Party suicide. The two-party system is a vital check on absolute power, which cannot be trusted in anyone’s hands.

Democrats need to seek treatment for their Trump Derangement Syndrome which, for them, has become lethal.

After Barack Obama’s first presidential campaign was run on the hollow notion of “hope and change,” critics rightly noted that “hope is not a strategy.”

Neither is hate, as it turns out.
