(The Lion) — Users trying to visit ReproductiveRights.gov after President Donald Trump’s inauguration are now greeted with a message declaring, “This site can’t be reached.”
The Trump administration promptly shut the pro-abortion website down on Monday as the new president got to work.
Former President Joe Biden’s administration had launched it on June 25, 2022, one day after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, effectively sending abortion lawmaking back to the states.
“Reproductive health care, including access to birth control and safe and legal abortion care, is an essential part of your health and well-being,” the now-defunct website said. “While Roe v. Wade was overturned, abortion remains legal in many states, and other reproductive health care services remain protected by law. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is committed to providing you with accurate and up-to-date information about access to and coverage of reproductive health care and resources. Our goal is to make sure you have appropriate information and support.”
The website included information about abortion and contraception, including how to find abortion providers and receive financial assistance.
Conservatives welcomed the news of the site’s demise on X.
