(The Lion) — A Utah school bus driver is behind bars after admitting he kept a laptop filled with gruesome videos of child pornography locked in his backyard shed.
Val Whitehead, 69, is being held without bail at the Salt Lake County jail after a police search found videos on the laptop of bus drivers having sex with children, ABC 4 News reported. The laptop also contained other images of child pornography.
After a months-long investigation, Whitehead admitted to authorities he kept the laptop “locked in a backyard shed,” Fox 13 reported. Family members “told law enforcement he ‘spent most of his time alone in the shed in the back of the residence,’ according to court documents.”
Whitehead, who drove for at least two middle school routes and a grade school, has been charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony. A conviction would carry a sentence of 1-15 years in prison, KJZZ 14 reported.
According to the channel, “some details included in the arrest documents were too graphic to include in this report.”
Whitehead is on paid administrative leave while the Canyons School District investigates, according to media reports. His salary was $57,686, according to information from GovSalaries posted on X by Corey DeAngelis, a school choice advocate.
