BRANSON, Mo. – Silver Dollar City has announced $30 million of upcoming projects including major improvements to its infrastructure, student-employee housing and more.
SDC plans to partner with Holtz Builders of Mauston, Wisconsin to construct an on-site residence hall for interns. The three-story project will house temporary and/or seasonal workers participating in student-work programs such as Silver Dollar UniverCity.
The residence hall will house approximately 300 students and will feature two kitchens, community space and laundry facilities. Students also will be able to enjoy indoor and outdoor recreational areas for games and fellowship. SDC hopes to open the dorm-like project by mid-2023.
Furthermore, guests can expect an expanded and airy Heartland Home Furnishings area during the 2023 season. Park visitors can look forward to craftsmen demonstrating the use of late-1880s equipment such as lathes, saws and dovetailers. High-quality products such as cabinetry, bookshelves, desks and bedroom sets will be available for purchase on-site.
The well-known and beloved Fried Fancies is returning to the park with waterside dining. The eatery famously known for a variety of funnel cakes and family treats will feature a spacious 200-seat dining area.
Construction also will begin this winter to improve the guest entrance experience for park visitors. The project includes 1,200 extra parking spaces, enhanced pedestrian access routes, improved entrances into lots, and new turn lanes. Herschend Family Entertainment hopes to complete the parking lot project by 2024.
“Families and adult couples from throughout America’s heartland choose to visit Silver Dollar City for our fun and entertaining experiences,” Brad Thomas, president of Silver Dollar City, said in a press release. “These additions will enhance the time our guests spend with us. Each of these projects has been carefully chosen and designed to meet our guests’ needs and expectations and continue to elevate Silver Dollar City as a major theme park in the very center of the USA.”
Those interested in a Silver Dollar City internship must currently be enrolled in college, university or a technical school and be 18 years of age. Interns will serve leadership roles in merchandise and retail, attractions operations, culinary management, human resources and more.
