An angry activist mom blasted the National Education Association proposal to change the term “mother” to “birthing parents,” saying Americans reject the “radical agenda” of the “K-12 cartel.”
“I don’t think we can put anything past the unions at this point. I don’t believe that they represent parents and children and what we need in the future of America,” Moms For Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice told Fox News.
Justice argued that teachers’ unions do not represent the needs of parents or their children.
“We believe that they don’t actually represent the 3 million members that they have in their organizations,” she said. “So, while they may not have voted on it, I certainly think it’s just perhaps a reaction to the fact that they know how far away they have come from what the American public wants and needs.”
During their annual Representative Assembly in Chicago, the NEA proposed a resolution that changes the word “mother” to “birthing parent” in future contracts.
“Using this contract language, members need not worry about how a Board of Education/solicitor defines ‘maternity leave,’ ‘mother,’ and/or ‘father’; the language is an inclusive reflection of how LGBTQIA+ members build families,” the proposed resolution said.
The resolution was met with fierce criticism from conservatives, who deemed the measure out of touch with parents and say it will harm families.
“It’s horrifying,” Nicole Neily of Parents Defending Education told Fox News Digital.
“Normal people don’t use the term ‘chestfeeding’ or ‘birthing person’ or any of this stuff. I think it just further underscores how completely out of touch the teachers’ unions … are from the concerns of normal parents.”
Elana Fishbein from No Left Turn in Education said the resolution represents how the left wants to destroy the family. ”They are arrogant. They are dismissive of the family, the parents. It’s beyond Orwellian. Even in science fiction, I don’t know if you can have such a script of complete destruction of human society.”
Justice added that parents are recognizing they have fundamental rights to their children, saying Americans are not ready to get rid of the terms “mother” and “father.”
“There are many other things that the NEA proposed, and I really suggest to people: get out, look at those proposals, because you will be shocked at this radical agenda the union is pushing across this country,” she said.
