KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a shooting in Kansas City’s Westport neighborhood Sunday night that left one dead and five injured.
An altercation began inside of Westport Ale House near the 4100 block of Broadway Boulevard around 11 p.m. The involved parties then moved outside the bar, which is when the shooting occurred. Three off-duty Kansas City, Missouri police officers were working security at Ale House and returned fire.
In total, six victims were shot, one of which died. The other five victims are in stable condition, and it is still unclear whose bullets hit the victims, KSHB reported.
Missouri State Highway Patrol spokesperson Bill Lowe told KSHB there is no indication of a remaining threat to the public. Broadway and surrounding roads in the area were immediately closed and remain closed as the investigation continues.
There are no reports of any officers being injured during the altercation.
KCPD is assisting the MSHP in the investigation. The Heartlander has reached out to KCPD and the Missouri State Highway Patrol for additional information, and will update this story as more information becomes available.
