Bass Pro’s Johnny Morris and family restore old Ozark Mill to build speakeasy and event space inside

OZARK, Mo. – Built in 1833, the historic Ozark Mill was bought by Bass Pro Founder Johnny Morris in 1993 with the vision to open a riverside restaurant inside of it. That vision is now a  reality as plans are underway to open the space in 2022.

Morris’ daughter Megan Stack helped get the ball rolling and began reimagining the structure’s future in 2016. After enduring many floods throughout the years, the mill was lifted in 2018 and moved away from the river’s edge to restore its foundation and prepare it to become an active gathering place.

The Ozark Mill will be a multipurpose event space which will include a general store, gift shop, a speakeasy named ‘The Garrison’ and will offer self-guided tours.

The Garrison will feature dining space, a bar and a patio overlooking the Finley River and a theme inspired by the turn of the century. Its name comes from Ozark’s famed Riverside Inn owner, Howard Garrison. It will serve cocktails and shareable plates, including fresh produce grown by Finley Farms.

Finley Farms features a chapel sitting directly across from the mill that couples often rent out for weddings. With the addition of the Ozark Mill’s new space and amenities, couples will now have the option to host their reception within the historical structure.

Finley Farms is located at 802 Finley Farms Lane in Ozark. Those interested in learning more about Finley Farms and the Ozark Mill can visit their website.
