ST. LOUIS – President Donald J. Trump’s top law enforcement official endorsed Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt for the United States Senate.
Former Acting U.S. Attorney General Matthew Whitaker said Attorney General Schmitt is the one candidate who can be counted on to defend the rule of law, support law enforcement and fight for Missouri’s conservative values.
“In President Trump’s Justice Department, we knew we could count on Eric Schmitt to support law and order, law enforcement and the rule of law,” said Matthew Whitaker who served as Acting Attorney General of the United States. “As a top law enforcement official in the Trump administration, I saw firsthand his commitment to keeping Missourians safe by taking action to fight violent crime, backing our police with resources and support, and establishing unprecedented cooperation between law enforcement agencies to protect and serve our communities. Eric Schmitt has my full support in his campaign for U.S. Senate and I encourage Missourians to send him there to represent law and order and conservative values.”
As Missouri’s Attorney General, Eric Schmitt worked closely with Missouri’s U.S. Attorneys and the U.S. Department of Justice on anti-crime initiatives including Operation Legend, which ushered in a surge of federal agents to the state to help stop violent crime.
