A Missouri Democrat state representative is in hot water after texting an obscene message to a Republican colleague Sept. 4.
Rep. Jeremy Dean, D-Springfield, sent the text to Rep. Cecelie Williams, R- Dittmer, feigning surprise that “you [Republicans] can even talk” while performing fellatio on President Trump – though he worded it much more lewdly.
Dean is now the subject of a Missouri House ethics investigation, and his own Democrat House Minority Leader Ashley Aune has revoked his committee assignments.
“What Jeremy sent was wrong,” Aune said, as reported by the Missouri Independent, noting Dean has apologized to Williams. “I am disappointed that this text was even sent and take it very seriously.”
Former Republican state Rep. Adam Schwadron posted a photographed copy of Dean’s text on X and blasted it on Friday:
“The text message from Missouri House Democrat @JeremyDean4Mo, while sitting on the House Floor, to domestic abuse survivor Rep. Cecelie Williams while she sat in Committee is reprehensible. This disgusting behavior has no place in our Capitol and must be dealt with immediately.”
For her part, Williams called the text “unwanted and unappreciated,” adding that “I feel that the message has absolutely no place in the Missouri legislature or any other workplace at all.
Despite Dean’s apology, both he and Aune sounded a contentious note toward Republicans.
“Because of ongoing safety concerns stemming from death threats directed at me, I cannot provide a detailed comment on the allegations,” Dean said, according to the Independent. “It is disheartening that some of my colleagues across the aisle have chosen to disregard these laws, though unfortunately, it aligns with their recent pattern of behavior.”
“I would argue it was probably not even the worst thing sent between members that day,” Aune said. “One of the things I shared with the [Republican] speaker was that if this rises to the level of a big deal, then I’ve got news for him and his caucus, because my caucus has receipts, too.”
Conservative public affairs strategist Gregg Keller tells The Heartlander an apology from Dean isn’t near enough.
“Mentally well men don’t send these kinds of texts to their female colleagues. Rep. Dean should be removed from office at least until he’s gotten the mental health care he obviously requires.
“It’s ironic Rep. Dean wants to paint Republican female electeds as Trump sycophants when it’s abundantly clear from his demented behavior he’s in thrall to the extreme misogynist Left Wing of his own party. I hope he gets the comprehensive psychiatric interventions he so clearly needs.”
